Musician Bio
Robbie Mangano, aka Robbie Seahag, is a bassist and self-taught guitarist. At age 10, Robbie began studying bass privately for 5 years. As a freshman in high school his father brought him to open jams at local bars and he soon began playing paying weekend gigs with his teacher. After high school he attended NYU majoring in music technology and composition while freelancing as a music transcriber for publications such as Guitar World Magazine, Acoustic Guitar and various Amsco songbooks.
Robbie has been involved in countless projects throughout these years spanning fusion, metal, jazz, punk, avant-guarde, new age, funk, country, rap, disco, and rock. He has played with bands including Project/Object, the Sound of Urchin, the Grande Mothers, Wrong, Old Rugged Sauce, and Mangano, Passantino, and Balls Most recently, Robbie played guitar for Tom Morello's "Street Sweeper Social Club" and toured with members of the Mothers of Invention and Frank Zappa's band, on both bass and guitar, carrying on guitar parts played originally by one of his heroes, Mr. Zappa. 2010 marks the unveiling of his new instrumental art-punk/post-rock trio called "Paper Cat" in which Robbie plays baritone guitar exclusively.
Between touring, he teaches many students privately and also teaches guitar and bass at the School of Rock in Hell's Kitchen, NYC. He enjoys peace and quiet in Brooklyn, NY.
