Musician Bio

Ann Klein is a truly accomplished guitarist and plays a few other stringed things like lap steel and mandolin but she is most proud of her ability to wah wah her way out of any solo, any time...

Ann likes all good music, from Bach to the Beatles to the Dixie Chicks to Led Zeppelin and is influenced by every note.

As a guitarist, Ann has a wide range of notable accomplishments, including: served as a featured soloist with Ani DiFranco during several live performances; Ann had the honor to play or record with Kate Pierson of the B-52s, Joan Osborne, Darden Smith, PM Dawn, Randall Woolf & Maurice Sendak (for a ballet of "Where the Wild Things Are"), Keri Noble, Sara Lee, Natalie Imbruglia, Mary Lee's Corvette, Jon King (of the Gang of Four), Eric Michael Gillett and the American Composers Orchestra (concert at Carnegie Hall), among others; and Ann played on Broadway in "Grease" and "9 to 5", and is currently involved with "Everyday Rapture".

Ann has a diverse and rich history as a composer/songwriter. Of particular note, Ann has: recorded five independently produced discs; toured in Europe consistently for 10 years; played house concerts in the tri-state area (and Texas); received lots of very nice press from well known publications such as Billboard and HARP, and also from local papers both in the States and Europe; written music for three documentaries for French television (one on William Burroughs and two on sustainable agriculture); written music for THE ENERGY FACTORY (an organization committed to tackling the growing problem of child obesity in the United States; and written music for Metro Music, Inc. (a hip and happenin' NYC music library situation).

Ann was also a guitar coach for Saffron Burrows in the film, "The Guitar", released in fall 2008. Ann has produced a few artists with her partner, Tim Hatfield, of Cowboy Technical Services, including: Sara Wendt for City Canyons Records and Tina Cernero (gospel).

Further, Ann was awarded a grant to attend the MacDowell Colony in the summer of 2000. In fall of 2005, she was invited as a guest teacher at the Danish Rythmic Music Conservancy along with 15 other teachers from NY and LA. Ann is also on the faculty at the 92nd Street Y School of Music (http://www.92y.org).

Non-musically speaking, Ann likes Southpark, travel, Thanksgiving, New England autumn, the beach, animals, hanging out with friends and listening to other people play great music.
